Blue Futures Pathways (BFP) is a program led by the SOI Foundation that connects youth across Canada with education, employment and funding opportunities to inspire and support them in developing successful careers in the Sustainable Blue Economy (SBE). Most recently, BFP has created two virtual education resources: Six Learning Modules introducing individuals to the SBE and, in partnership with Live It Earth, ten bilingual videos presenting the research and career pathways of STEM professionals actively working within the SBE across Canada. Learn more about the different types of careers that exist and start charting your own career pathway.
Session Summary (60 minutes):
A member of the Blue Futures Pathways Network will virtually introduce your classroom to what is the Sustainable Blue Economy, the opportunities that exist within it and the BFP Learning resources. Your students will have the opportunity to watch a couple of videos of their choice (or we can watch a few as a group if easier). After, your students will be taken through a planning session where they will start to map out their personal goals towards developing their career pathway. At the end of the workshop, the teacher will be provided with a full inquiry guide that they can use with their class as they go through all 10 videos, and access to the BFP Learning Modules for their students.
