You once took part in a sail training program on a tall ship and you want more, but where to start? In this webinar, tall ship crew members Leticia, Olivia and Amélie will tell you where to look for opportunities at sea and on tall ships in Canada and around the world, what life onboard tall ships as crew looks like, and what training and certifications you need. This will be the perfect opportunity to ask your questions about the professional world of tall ship sailing and the marine industry.

Amélie MarchandTall Ship SailorAmélie discovered tall ships as a trainee onboard Oosterschelde during the 2018 Tall Ship Races. She has since volunteered on Tall Ship Lynx on the East Coast of the US, on the RV Martin Sheen with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, volunteered and worked onboard Écomaris in Québec, worked on the St.Lawrence II in Kingston and will soon join the crew of Europa.

Leticia TaylorTall Ship SailorLeticia is 22-years-old and from Salt Springs Island, BC. She started sailing on tall ships when she was 13 years old on the Pacific grace with the S.A.L.T.S. program. She’s since participated in various sail training programs such as the Jubilee Sailing Trust, the Bluenose II, the Gulden Leeuw with Class Afloat, and Picton Castle’s Bosun School. Some of Leticia’s hobbies include kayaking hiking and camping. When she’s not sailing, she works as a gymnastics coach, barista, bartender and cook.

Olivia FergusonTall Ship SailorOlivia Ferguson is an adventurous wanderer who has taken to pursuing a life at sea. Olivia has always loved sailing and the deep, dark, mysteries of the ocean. She has specifically fallen in love with sailing around the world on tall ships. Olivia has sailed across the Atlantic, sailed to the far North Arctic and even sailed to explore the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Olivia is in her happy place whenever she is in the remote wilderness. In case you haven’t guessed it already, that is usually where you can find her, living out her wildest dreams. Olivia is currently pursuing her dream of becoming the Captain of her own ship and she is currently enrolled in the Marine Navigation Technology program at the Nova Scotia Community College on the eastern coast of Canada. In her free time she enjoys freelance writing ocean related articles as she feels it is important to educate others about the importance of our oceans. Olivia is a true sea gypsy, inspiring everyone who she is lucky enough to meet.
