Learn Knots with S2S: Reef Knot

STEP 1 : Grab each end of your line. Place one end in either hand. Put the line in your left hand over the line in your right hand.This knot can be used to join two lines of equal diameter.

*** A simple way to remember how to tie this knot is “Right over Left, Left over Right” or vice versa ***

STEP 2 : Tuck the line that is now on top, underneath the line that is in your right hand. This is an overhand knot, exactly like the knot you use to tie your shoes.

STEP 3 : Take each end of your line in either hand again. This time, cross the line in your right hand over the line in your left hand.

STEP 4 : Again, tuck the line that is on top, underneath the line that is now in your left hand.

STEP 5 : In either hand, grab both lines on the right side and both lines on the left side.

STEP 6 : Pull each set of lines away from each other in a horizontal direction. VOILA! you have just tied a reef knot!
