Sailing Access Fund

Broad Reach Canada is committed to addressing the socioeconomic barriers associated with marine programming to encourage equitable access for all youth. Broad Reach Canada’s Sailing Access Fund allows youth aged 12-30 who would otherwise not be able to participate to experience the adventure and wonder of sailing  by covering some or all fees associated with participation in sail training programs. Broad Reach Canada promotes diversity and inclusion aboard participating vessels and encourages all eligible youth to apply, regardless of ability, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.

Before filling out our application form, be sure to check out our partner sail training organizations and visit their websites by clicking on their images below to learn more about pricing, trip dates and all of the details you will need to fill out the application in its entirety. Go beyond just the trip fees and look at their videos and social media accounts as well to give you a sense of what the programs are like! We exclusively offer funding for partner organizations so be sure to be ready with your first, second and third choice of which organization you would like to sail with!  Please contact them directly if you would like to be part of their programming.

This application has four sections, 1. Applicant information 2. About you (written portion)  3. Financial Information 4. Reference. As we request a description of your financial situation and for a reference, please ask for your parent’s or a guardian’s help with this section if needed. However, please ensure the written portion is your original work and complete all sections to the best of your ability. In order to effectively process your application, we need to get a sense of your financial situation. Please describe your reason(s) for requesting financial information from the Sailing Access Fund? For applicants who are under the age of 18, please have this section completed by a parent or guardian.

Reference

*Please note that parents or guardians can only provide financial information for the applicant. Reference letters should be from a non-related person (community member, teacher) describing their relationship to you and why you are a deserving applicant for the Sailing Access Fund.
