Lighthouse Point is a Provincial Park on Pelee island, the largest island in Lake Erie. Located on the island’s Northeastern point, Lighthouse Point features the ruins of a historic lighthouse. Completed in 1834, the lighthouse stood as an important landmark for sailors traveling through Pelee Passage, the narrow channel between Pelee Island and Point Pelee. While many ships still travel through the passage along a major Great Lakes shipping route, today it is marked by flashing buoys either side of the channel.
